clinical lab values

clinical lab values are important for the :

  • identify common causes for abnormal lab values
  • diagnosis of diseases
  • identification of causative organism
  • recognization of normal values that further helps in comparison with abnormal values in disease conditions
  • helps interpretation of clinical significance of lab values   
NOTE :

abnormal  lab values not always indicator of disease,sometimes lab values errors are due to
  •  technical error
  •  spoiled specimen
  • specimen taken at the wrong time
  • faulty reagents  
  • incomplete specimen
  • such as false positive tests are shown due to red meat consumption or medication e.g; iron supplement
